On Resolutions: Don't Let Me Tell You What To Do: A Poem

DON'T LET ME TELL YOU WHAT TO DO

by Alun Buffry

I don't need no New Year's resolutions.
They gave me no solutions
To problems that I'd thought I'd had,
As life was good and seldom bad.

I gave up giving up,
If I want a drink a glass I'll sup.
If I want to toke, I'll have a puff
And easy stop when I've had enough.

I know we're just not all the same,
Not in body, mind or name,
But if your life you want to change,
Just make no promises, avoid the shame.

Take control of your own life,
Don't blame the husband or the wife,
Realise that inside you should feel strong
There is no Right, there is no wrong.

There be no guilt as there is no blame,
There is no guilt, should be no shame,
We've all be told what we should do,
By those that don't really know the real you.

Don’t wait for revolution.
Don’t sink in convolution.
The answer’s in the question’s seen.
So I say don’t listen to me

Don't let me tell you how to be.
Live your life for you are free,
To choose to say, to think, to do,
And day by day you will get through.

Christmas strikes strike down the joy for many

This may not be a very popular post but really, postal workers striking on Dec 24th, trains striking over Christmas?

Surely the people that will suffer from this are the people, not the bosses, not the shareholders, not the government, not the millionaires.

Make no mistake I do believe these poorer workers and especially nurses, ambulance drivers etc, should get a better salary, I do agree that MP's awarding themselves continuing bonuses and expenses is atrocious, that energy companies and others are making unreasonable profits by charging outrageous fees which we seem to be able to do nothing about – my own gas bill is three times that of last year, I notice how the price of many essentials even in my local Coop shop have increased ridiculously n the last few days, even locally produced eggs - which I attribute to greed not events in Ukraine or simply Brexit - but could not these strikes be held when they hit less hard the people at this time of year who want to see their love ones?

So the people may have to wait until after Christmas to get their cards, the children may have to wait to get their gifts, people may not be able to travel by train to see their families - and I have to say that I think that a shame.

Somebody said to me "the Government will not listen and will not act, what else can they do?" My own answer is to strike at other times, times when it would hit businesses and the economy and not the general public that have no say.

I expect a few will disagree with me but hey, just remember neither you nor I really have any say in all this, and that is the problem.

Bag of Dirt - a poem by Alun Buffry

BAG OF DIRT

I thought I was a bag of dirt,

A bag that hoped and loved and hurt,

A bag of cosmic dust,

That aches and yearns and feels a must.

I thought I was a bag of dirt.

That grows a beard and wears a shirt,

A bag that talks and laughs and thinks,

A dirtbag, I hope it doesn't stink.

Joni sang we are just stardust,

Sounds to me she had it sussed;

Golden though from out the garden,

Stardust that can melt or harden.

This bag of dirt it has a life,

It makes an effort battling strife,

What is its purpose some may ask,

Is it to fulfil some divine task?

This dirt was born and will surely die,

And in between those walls is I,

One thing more I want to say,

Make best of life I try each day.

GREAT BRITAIN?

 Taken from Facebook

Dan Price

As 10,000 ambulance staff strike today because the government wont pay our frontline NHS workers a decent wage we are advised "Dont take any risks".

So let me get this straight, people are told not to turn their heating on if they can't afford it, not to eat to much if they are tight of cash, not to send gifts or present, not to travel, and now not to have an accident get ill or god forbid a heart attack.
How much will it cost to give the pay rise they want, 30 billion, how much did the conservatives spunk on truss's mini budget? 30 billion.
And we had the cheek to slag off Qatar's standards, they treat their people much better then this.
This government are a disgrace.

What is being offered? A pathway to Peace.

PREM RAWAT offers a PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE of PEACE within inside yourself.

It is not a philosophy, religion, concept or belief.

He does not ask for payment, just that each person gives it a chance and makes the daily effort of practising the four techniques to look within, for an hour of ones time.

He does not ask that anyone believe anything, hold or change a religion. There is no mantra to learn and repeat, simply an experience to have.

Recently, Prem repeated again a promise that he made over 50 years ago: "Give me love and I will give you peace."

The pathway is simple. Prem has created a series on on-line videos, each about 5 minutes long, called PEAK, which people can watch and enjoy at their own pace, on their smart phones or tablets. At the end of the series it is possible to apply for KNOWLEDGE and then simply wait until a Knowledge session is arranged for you to attend. There are also plenty of other videos of Prem speaking available on his YouTube site and the TimelessToday website.

To watch the PEAK series, simply download the TimelessToday app. Open the app and in the drop-down menu top right click on PEAK.

Simply register and watch and enjoy. There is no fee.

Of an ocean of sin.

I pray you my Lord,
To bless me with sight,
And shine through me Lord,
All day and all night.

I pray you my Lord,

All my mind's mountains
And return to you.

Without you my Lord,
I know I'll be lost
And on I will wonder
At my own life's cost.

Thank you my Lord,
And thank you again,
For harmonious colours
Of the sweet Holy Name

Happy Birthday PREM RAWAT

It's Prem Rawat's 65th birthday, Dec 10th. I found this page where people can send greetings, messages, express themselves or ask question, although he obviously does not have time to respond to them all, he says he reads them all.

How to get people to like you - or at least how to think people do like you!

It is hard to like a person if you think they don't like you and it is hard to smile at them. And they have the same problem.

It's actually easier to smile at somebody that you may not like or care about. Lot's of people do that, from politicians to actors, doormen to shop assistants, even complete strangers.

It's also hard to start liking somebody that one just doesn't like or to make somebody to start liking you.

Now remember that much of our lives, our attitudes, feelings and opinions, are actually controlled much by our subconscious minds and that are subconscious minds are like blackboards or computers, incapable of distinguishing what is good or true from what is not. They just record stuff and that can be based to a large extent on what we hear, what we are told and on repetition. Remember the hundred lines in school. Repeat something often enough and people may start believing it. Media and politicians do that. Also just because one likes a person does not mean that the person is honest - all conmen try to be likeable and believable otherwise their scams won't work.

So what is the solution? We can see the problem, easy, two people just don't like each other and that is not easy to change.

But to change what we think, may be easier!

We have to change what is written on the blackboard and no, we don't need to write a hundred lines although that may even help! We need to change what our subconscious mind is whispering to us.

What if we THOUGHT a person likes us even if they don't? And that does not mean trusting them, liking them or falling to their scams. It just makes it easier to smile at them and that may make it easier to make them think you like them and maybe even easier for them to like you and smile back. Two people smiling at each other must surely be better than two people scowling at each other!

So how do we change what is written on the blackboard? We overwrite it through repetition.

It is important to do that by making positive statements out loud and I stress out load (I don't mean shouting). Even if those repetitions are not actually true. We speak as if they are.

For example, try this: out loud, say "I am glad ...... like me" (use their name or image)

Say that three times.

Do that three times a day, once just before going to sleep.

Believe me it works!

And it works on many things. Your subconscious mind will start believing that they actually like you!

It even works on other aspects of life. "I am glad I eat less" - "I am glad I go for a walk after lunch every day" - "I am glad I am good at getting jobs" - "I am glad I am good at exams" - "I am glad I can remember people's names"

I have seen that work for people and I have seen it work for me - I am of course now good at all of that!!

Fake meat

I have never understood why rsetaurants need to call their dishes  alternative "lamb", "prawns", "chicken", "beefburgers", "bacon", "fish and chips", "mock duck" etc - it doesn't attract me to those dishes at all and I have yet to meet a meat-eater that has become vegetarian due to eating fake meat alone but I do know a vegan who became a meat-eater after eating fake lamb which he liked and went on to eat real lamb and is no longer vegetarian. I think the quality of good vegetarian dishes should stand alone.  Just be honest, if made from soya / tofu call it soya / tofu.

My Prem and The Key

WE tend to chase after so many ideas that our minds and the minds of others through up under the belief that it will help up satisfy our souls.

Whether it be seeking riches, fame or glory or getting a new car, new job, new house or new partner, there we go putting so much effort into achieving what we have already done before, over and over again.

The mind is like a genie that can achieve so much yet disappoint us so much; sometimes it just won't stop, telling us this or that plan, worrying about the future or regretting the past. It can be like a genie that we can no longer control; it must keep busy for that the nature; even when we sleep! It can distract us from what we try to focus on.

And what ought we focus on?

Surely not things that we really know will not bring lasting peace and joy and a sense of real fulfilment?

Of course we need to know first is there anything that will bring us those things and that will last?

Some say follow your heart, not your head. That's not the heart that beats no more than it is the head that sits on your neck. It means the heart that feels and not the head that thinks. Of course that does not mean to stop thinking or to stop using our brains (the genie), but it means stop letting our minds control everything we do and everything we strive for.

So where is that heart, what is that heart! Our minds will of course try to tell us. It may try to think up feelings of peace or joy. It may try to build us up or tare us down, and we will go up and down with it. One day we feel good about life, one day we feel bad. One day we feel everything will be OK, next day we feel we are all doomed.

Such is life, some may say.

It's like the surface of the earth, up the mountains and down the valleys, and we go with it on our journey. Remember of course that most of our planet is sea, and that does not go up and down in quite the same way. We can, nowadays, use a helicopter or submarine, which would make our journey maybe more level. We need to fly above or float below the surface.

How lucky the human that has learned to be. How lucky the human that has found the heart, for in that place is the peace and joy we seek.

We do not need to stop living in this world or live in isolation in a cave to do that.

We just need to be shown what we once had, that knowledge of self My teacher Prem Rawat was the one that showed me.

Fake meat

Do vegan / vegetarian restaurants really think they will convert meat-eaters to vegan by calling dishes "lamb" or "beefburgers" or "fish and chips" or "chick'n;" and then telling them it's actually soya that they are serving up? My vegan friend went to one such place and tried fake lamb curry and loved it. Then he decided to try real lamb somewhree else and tried it. Now he eats lamb.

I CAN SEE YOU. A Poem and Dedication by Alun Buffry

I CAN SEE YOU (2021)
by
Alun Buffry

I can see your shadow in the sun.
I can see you, since time itself began.
I can see you on that empty chair.
I know you’re always there.

You may have passed from my direct sight.
You may have travelled to that divinest light.
Yet I see you rustling in the trees.
Yet I see you in the buzzing bees.

You went before me, travelled on.
Yet I hear you in every loving song.
I never thought so soon you'd go.
You never went, I truly know.

I can see you in my mind.
In my heart it's you I find.
My time will come, I'll see you there.
And peace and bliss I know we'll share.

The Purpose - What's it all about?

PURPOSE?

Recently several friends have asked the ever-asking questions? What is the purpose of life. Or why am I here? What's it all about? Where did we come from or where are we going? Why is the world like this, why the suffering? Is there a God or gods?

Of course, this asking is nothing new, it has been going on for many thousands of years, maybe since people first had the ability to even think such questions.

And there has been no shortage of people trying to give answers. Whole religions have been founded based upon the teachings of those that have tried to give answers. Billions of people now follow those religions and billions don't. Others follow philosophies or science.

The problem persist because we then have another problem. what to believe, who to believe.

And people argue over their beliefs, even fight wars.

It's like if a woman has several children and the children are fighting over which one has the best mother, even though they have the same mother; they don't know they have the same mother, they don't even know their mother, they just believe that theirs is the best!

I cannot myself answer those questions for anyone but myself. But I do know two things:

Firstly, we need to truly understand the question, for if we do not know the question, how will be recognise the answer as true? How will we be able to distinguish the truth from the lies? All we will be left with is a choice of beliefs and those beliefs can change.

Secondly, we need to KNOW, not just to believe.

Until we know, we live in darkness, doubt and confusion, that brings fear and even hatred.

What will happen if we have to live our lives like that?

Just look at what is going on in the world to see. The newspapers and media are full of it, spreading their lies and fear, enabling control of the masses. Where is the good news about you?

So I would say that if those questions are important to us, should we not be prioritising finding the answers and stop being distracted by the world where we know the answers are not in?

We KNOW we are alive - even those that argue that maybe it's all an illusion or dream, know they are in the illusion or dream, that they exist, for a while at least, between those two walls of birth and death kept apart from the breaths we cannot buy. The Greatest Truth of All - You Are Alive.

That life, that spirit, that who-we-are, lies within inside of us and we just need to be shown where and how to look. That, to me, should be the priority, the purpose within itself, to enable us to enjoy our lives, to live in peace and joy.

THE PURPOSE OF LIFE

So what is the purpose of life?

Is it to find a husband or a wife?

Is it to send our children forth to multiply,

Or the problems of the world to rectify?

Is it to find glory or to get incredible rich,

Before they burn is or throw our bodies in a ditch?

Is it to travel round the globe

Or find the perfect house along our road?

Is it to leave behind a glorious name,

Or whilst alive earn yourself a glorious name?

Is it to seek out medals and a soldiers glory,

Is it to write a glorious story?

Is it to taste the finest of wine,

Or is it to find the true divine?

The Divine brings peace.

The Divine brings joy.

The Divine brings love.

The Divine brings thanks,

And understanding.

The Divine brings birth,

The Divine brings death,

And in between,

The Divine brings breath.

The purpose of life is to find yourself,

The self beyond the earthly wealth.

It's found within inside of you,

A feeling undeniably true.

What is this life, so many ask.

Make finding the answer your priority task.

Acid Rain

ACID RAIN

(2022)

Once they talked of acid rain

And even Acid Heads

Now they talk financial strain

And immigrants instead

The Hippies sang of peace in songs

And grew their hair quite long

Yet 'spite the many water bongs,

We still fight war that's wrong.

The rich, they'll never feel the cold

But all of us get ill,

That's not reserved for countless old,

The rich do as they will.

So now on TV and in the printers' ink,

The rich may fake their sorrows

They say the world is on the brink,

There may be few tomorrows.

As Musk and all still send off their rockets

And try to get to Mars,

They line their gold-filled pockets

And sell us driverless cars.

I read about our poor world's fate

In nineteen sixty-eight,

But Governments just had to wait

To say it's now too late

The Lost Key

A man lost his key and was searching in his garden.

Another man came by and said: "I know what you are looking for and it is inside your house. All you need to do is let me show you exactly where and then it is up to you to move all the stuff that you have piled on top of it. Then you will find your key!"

"Thanks," said the first man, "But I am still busy searching for it out here."

What I offer is more than words. I offer the know-how to access the experience of peace and fulfillment. I call it Knowledge.”

Scottish Power is Appauling

Scottish Power - Avoid them - I use Octopus without problem.

I have heard so many people saying Scottish Power are demanding unreasonable amounts,or  false billing, setting up direct debits without authority, faulty meters.  Personally I left them several years ago and they tried to bill me for hundreds of pounds even thugh I had a pre-payment meter, but must say after I left they sent me a cheque for money they had overcharged me due to a faulty meter two years prevuously and never told me about.
