I could have been hanged

IN 1992, along with five others, I was convicted of conspiracy to import and conspiracy to supply cannabis, despite lack of evidence or witnesses. Whilst serving my time (which you can read about in my book "Time For Cannabis"), I met several dozen other people serving time for similar offences - from one to twelve years.

Had we been in Singapore, Indonesia, China, Malaysia or any one of several other countries, we would almost certainly have been HUNG BY THE NECK UNTIL DEAD.

Unbelievably such barbaric punishment continues, for a plant that benefits so many and potentially so many more people as well as the planet itself if used to replace polluting fuels, plastics and addictive and poisonous drugs.

THIS MUST BE STOPPED.

Stop Capital punishment for cannabis trafficking

 https://petitions.eko.org/petitions/stop-capital-punishment-for-cannabis-trafficking

Cannabis is a remarkably safe plant, so please let the punishment fit the crime, people in any country Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, United Arab Emirates, People's Republic of China, United States, Singapore, shouldn't be executed. The latest executions in Singapore, are looking barbaric to the rest of the world. So we ask for you as President to stop any future executions, as a modern example to all the others countries would change these laws as well.

Why is this important?

The Global Cannabis Community is about 200 million people, who use this plant for many reasons, as this plant is versatile, for medical, industrial, recreational and spiritual uses laws have changed globally the last few decades.
We are shocked that people are still being executed for Trafficking cannabis.

We choose to avoid cashless restaurants

Groups of us enjoyed going out for meals and each paid for their own, in cash (anyone using a card could of course do so). Money would be passed along for somebody to pay the bill. Sadly now some of our favorite places such as Bills restaurant, Pizzahut and Yo sushi have been cashless for some time and it's a real bother when 6 people have to pass cash to one person to pay with a card then walk out with over £100 to have to take to their bank, or several people have to get separate bills and use their own cards which still some may not have. So we avoid those restaurants.

Another issue is Norwich council car parks - the few cash machines that take payment do not give change, so £3.60 becomes £4, or else use a contactless card - what is the reasoning behind that.

I also heard that Norwich City College is now completely cashless?

Then consider peopeel such as market traders, window cleaners, small businesses that have to pay to have a machine and now reading about machines that stop working and all of a sudden, the business wants people to use cash again.

Saving Banks?? Or are we happy for them to close?

Please leave your comments and thoughts at the end of this post.

Manay banks ae closing branches really fast telling us that it is for health and safety reasons, for our convenience etc whereas it's obvious that it is to cut down on staff and save money for their fat directors.  They tell us we can use ATM's, which are often faulty and still open to raud, or use a local post office which many people do not have.  I have heard of people having to travel 10 miles each way

Question is - do we want a bank and a bank teller or are we happy enough with machines?

Of course banks are just businesses.  They never existed for people, only for profit and we all know just how much profit they make and how much extra profit they made during the covid19 panic.

Banks are trying to force the use of plastic cards on us to replace cash.  If cash disappears what will that mean?  No small change to give away, no small notes for the grandchildren who will never learn to count their money, fewer carboot sales and less small businesses such as windown cleaners, less tips for staff in restaurants, less market stalls - just a piece on plastic and we have all heard of the fraudsters and how they can clear out your account relatively easily if they steal your card or scan your cashless card in the street.

So banks also charge businesses for card machines and businesses have to pass that on to customers - if they charge VAT that increases the bank's fees too.  Now we are being told that banks are charging busineesses to deposit cash!  What a scam!

To save banks from closing it is ESSENTIAL that people actually go to their bank - desposit cash /cheques personally and withdraw cash needed to spend, rather than use an ATM.

I realise this requires time and effort and it's much easier to conduct business on line or use an ATM _ BUT, big BUT, if people do not actually go into their bank and bearing in mind that they have to pay to stay open, the obvious conclusion is that the banks will not stay open. If people use their bank's branches then the banks will see the need.

DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?

BE PROACTIVE off line too.

Ten Pound Poms - The Ten Pound Australian Pommie by Beryl Jackson RIP

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1916310710/ref=nosim?tag=webbooks05

RIP BERYL,  "We were sailing on the £10 scheme, supported by the Australian government, as they were desperate to boost their population of Australia in the 60's. The "Ellinis" was full of immigrants, so much so, that men and women were separated, four men to a cabin and four women in other cabins. My husband was on a separate deck at the opposite side of the ship."
