Tolerance of cannabis is growing just as scientists show that it can cause insanity

As long ago as 1896 these claims were made about inmates of mental hospitals in India that used cannabis - the first UK Royal Commission, the Indian Hemp Drugs commission looked into those claims and concluded that cannabis actually helped many and also that the mental health problems often led people to use cannabis to find relief, and cannabis was legal there in those days. There have been numerous other studies into cannabis and mental health and although there is some evidence that a small number of people with mental health problems get worse through uncontrolled consumption of cannabis with high THC and low CBD content, on the whole the reports failed to prove any detrimental effect to the vast majority of consumers.

In addition I would emphasize that even in cases where it may be true, that is no reason to punish either those people or those that benefit from cannabis consumption - it is a matter of health and should not be a mater of law. The criminalisation of millions of people that have done no harm cannot be justified because a minority may have suffered ill effects; otherwise alcohol would have been banned from non-medicinal production or supply many years ago, including home brewing.

Italy to hold referendum on decriminalizing cannabis after 500,000 sign petition in a week

Italy to hold referendum on decriminalizing cannabis after 500,000 sign petition in a week

A good result but a referendum can be determined by public opinion led by the rich and powerful that want control and profit and are happy to provide inaccurate and false information - look what happened with UK and Brexit.

It can also fly in the face of Human Rights and Justice, which ought to be the priority, and leave the supply and control in the hands of Government and / or big industry. Human Rights must be applied and adhered to irrespective of public opinion.

The essential question that must be pushed during the lead up to the referendum is the question: why should the law punish a person for doing something that does no harm to others? Why should people's private lives and beliefs be interfered with by government or other authorities unless in the interests of public health, public order or the Rights of others, as demanded by Human Rights laws?

And of course if possession of cannabis ceases to be an offence in law, where will people obtain it? Will they be allowed to grow their own, grow for others, collective grows and will there be legal commercial or other supplies for those unable to grow their own? The latter leads us to ask what controls and consumer protection will be put on those suppliers? Will it be put into the hands of big pharmaceutical businesses or others?

UK Cannabis News

UK Cannabis News: I do not know about the wording of the laws other countries but here in the UK the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 states that the possession, cultivation / production, supply of cannabis and cannabis products containing THC without licence is unlawful.

Many f us believe it is important to explain that it is the human activities that are supposedly “controlled” by law, not cannabis (or other specified substances / drugs) not cannabis itself.

Cannabis is a substance / plant and cannot be legal or illegal, criminalised or decriminalised.

Nevertheless, campaigners, journalists, MP’s and even the legal profession, continue to use words such as “legalise cannabis” or “cannabis is illegal”. We believe those phrases can dehumanise the legal situation. It is people that are punished by the courts.

Recently several prosecutions for possession (one for 1 ounce and 1 for 6 ounces) have been dropped by the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) after the Defence demanded that the CPS produce the “foundation evidence” upon which the inclusion of cannabis as a “controlled) and classified, scheduled drug in the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 and other legislation. The CPS, the ACMD (Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drug) and the Home Office has said that such evidence no longer exists. This may mean that many cases will be dropped.

OUTLAW of Manchester has put together a strong legal team and case to bring a Judicial Review on the Misuse of Drugs Act and its application, and raised the money for the case and surety against its failure. It is possible that the Judicial Review with rule against the Misuse of Drugs Act making future prosecutions unworkable and previous prosecutions and punishments unlawful as far back as 1971. The case may be due in court within weeks.

Meanwhile, there has ben an increase in private prescriptions through private companies that charge consultation fees, evidence of diagnosis and two previously proposed treatments, selling cannabis bud at prices ranging from £5 to £15 per gram. Many people are now receiving prescription cannabis though the post. This is in addition to Sativex which is supplied to a very limited number of people at charges through the NHS.

Another incentive is the “CanCard” which is sold under similar criteria to people that wish to use cannabis to treat their ailments but are unable to obtain it on prescription. These cards are sold at £30 each plus an annual renewal fee of £20 – hugely profitable for the producers of CanCard. They claim that production of the card at point of stop and search will persuade police to use their power of discretion and not arrest, and claim that many police forces are working within this incentive. But whilst people receiving cannabis legally through private or NHS prescription would not need the card, the card does not cover cultivation or supply.

The WTU (We The Undersigned) attempt to bring legal action against the Government over the abuse of Human Rights when the MODA is applied has come to a halt due to lack of funding – the legal advisor has stated that such a case may cost up to £150,000 and the Government may ask the court to demand a surety against failure of the case to cover Government costs of up to £250,000. Also waiting to see the Outcome of the Outlaw case.

A Convenient Truth by Alun Buffry

To those that have yet to find peace and fulfilment in their lives - in essence we are all the same, that peace is within us all.

When we have felt love, peace, joy and fulfilment, we have felt it within ourselves, not outside by whatever seems to have enabled it to be experienced.

When we have not felt it, maybe because external circumstances are not the way we want them to be, it is still within us - sometimes it takes just a sigh to feel it again, sometime we cannot. Maybe we are not then able to look in the right place. Maybe, like most things in life, we need help and guidance.

So who will show us, where should we look and how - and maybe important to some, how much will it cost, how much effort will it take, how much will be have to sacrifice? and will it actually work for me?

It seems maybe too good to believe, that peace is possible; we have our doubts. so much in this world has promised so much but has already let us down.

So when somebody comes along and says, listen, I can show you, we are so reluctant.

Even though we believe so much advertising, so many empty promises and even though if somebody we know and trust says "taste this", "smoke that", go there, listen to that, read that, watch that film, we so readily take their advice.

Religions don't always work - they often cause people to live in fear or under strict rules: much of science too, is a religion, maybe not with so much fear or so many rules, but requiring beliefs and, a shame, that so often those beliefs do not give us the peace and fulfilment we want.

Think abut it, why do we do what we do, go where we go, follow instructions and ambitions - where are we hoping to go, what are we looking for? Peace? Joy? Love? Freedom? Satisfaction? Knowledge? just how far will we go, just how long a journey would we make, just how much would we do, or even pay, for those things, those feelings and experiences.

So if somebody says, listen, I tell you in truth - this is the way to go - and it costs nothing but a little effort and patience - to be shown how to achieve all that, to find what we want, what everybody wants, that is already within just waiting to be experienced again - who will listen?

Who REALLY wants to KNOW?
