And Yet I waste it like a fool.

Alun Buffry was born in Barry, South Glamorgan, Wales, in 1950, the son of Stanley Richard Buffry (Jim) and Vera. He attended Holton Road infants and junior school until 1961 when he studied at Barry Grammar School for Boys, which became Barry Boys Comprehensive School.

In 1968 Alun moved to Norwich, Norfolk, where he studied at the School of Chemistry at the University of East Anglia, graduating with an Honours degree in 1971. During his time at UEA, he took part in activities such as fell-walking, caving and rock climbing.

Also whilst at Blantyre house he helped run the Inmates Amenities Committee and organise two large events for MENCAP, within the prison grounds. He continued with his Open University course and received a Diploma in Computing in 1995, prior to his release on parole.

During his final year at Blantyre House, he worked with prison governor Jim Semple and fellow inmate Will Hutchinson on a survey amongst inmates comparing their "prison experiences" at Blantyre house and their previous maximum security prisons such as Whitemoor and Swailside. Their report, which was presented by Semple to the Cambridge Institute of Criminology and entitled "Damage and Humanity in Custody", was later published and became available on Amazon.

KICKING BALLS

That day did come I said goodbye,
And daily since I'd want to cry,
'Cos heaven's not in cloude on high,
And Angels not up in the sky.

The Master said it's all within,
No Karma comes from past lives sins.
The world we take upon the chin,
And on we struggle thick and thin.

Those that passed on from our sight,,
We wonder if perhaps we might
Meet once more on lofty height
Beyond this world and all its plights.

Illusion, monks tell us, is all around
As beaten gongs that speed their sounds,
Vibrating air and through the ground
To free us from our temple mounds.

One day each one of us must go
And only then se'll surely know
The crops that grew from seed we'd sowed.
And answers to our lifetime's woes.

Welive our lives between two walls.
We walk our paths with its pitfalls.
In truth I said, all in all,
What fund I had kicking life's balls.

Grows an ancient family tree,
From those people long ago,
To those who nowadays we know.

The youngsters say "Who really cares,
What one says or what one wears?"
Whilst elders say "Listen here my sons,
Who really cares? Well you'll be one!"

You risk your lives in sport and play,,
You hope, I think, you'll survive the day,
To live and prosper well and long
And keep that youthfulness so strong.".

The world we see is not the same
The good old days we seldom blame,
For throwing hope into the trash
And base our lives on counting cash..

We throw out all the children's toys
Seek transient pleasure for our joys
Forgetting who we truely are,
Just dust from some faint and distant stars.

So I am the Crown of Creation?
One in a seven billion nation.
Forget recreation.
Forget instant sensation.
Forget procreation.
Forget condemnation.
Focus on creation.

This I can never save the world.
That I cannot in Truth be blamed.
A Creator that can not be named,
Creation that cannot be tamed.
The rich, the powerful and the famed,
Together have our planet lamed.

We build it up, we tear it down.
We re-elect the greedy tyrant clowns,
We blame them whilst they laugh and frown,
As human beings sink and drown.
We beg for someone save us now.
As richest priests won’t bow down.

The Universe , we miss its call.
Those politicians so strong and tall,
They fucked it up and made us small,
Just play your part for one and all.
To put it right is one long haul.
So step outside your Ego Wall
